About the Recipe
Katsudon combines the savory flavors of a crispy pork cutlet with the comforting warmth of a rice bowl. The dish begins with a tender pork loin chop, breaded with panko breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection. This cutlet is then simmered in a flavorful broth of dashi, soy sauce, and mirin, along with onions and lightly beaten eggs, creating a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Served over a bowl of steamed Japanese rice, katsudon is a satisfying meal that embodies the essence of Japanese comfort food.
Katsudon is notably featured in the anime 'Yuri!!! on Ice,' where it serves as protagonist Yuuri Katsuki's favorite dish and symbolizes victory and motivation throughout the series.
